Create a blank project or start from a template

Decide how to begin

Choose Blank canvas when you want to select the services yourself. Choose Start from a template when an available pattern is close to your intended architecture. Templates provide a starting design; you still need to review names, configuration, boundaries, and connections for your use case.

Create and inspect the project

1. Open project creation in the intended organization.
2. Enter a meaningful project name and choose your starting option.
3. For a template, inspect the available pattern before continuing.
4. Choose Create project and wait for the project to open.
5. Review the canvas and Issues before making further changes.

Project creation requires an appropriate organization role. If creation is unavailable, ask an owner or administrator to check your membership and the workspace's current limits.

If creation is not confirmed

Keep the form open if you see Creation not confirmed or The project could not be opened. Record the visible error and use the retry offered by that screen. Avoid opening several tabs and submitting fresh requests, which makes it harder to tell which operation completed.

Before your first export

Confirm that the draft has saved, create a revision, and inspect the export choices for that revision. A project name alone does not identify which design version was exported. Include the project and revision identifiers when discussing an artifact with your team or support.
