Troubleshoot an export that fails or looks incorrect
Separate generation, validation, download, and downstream deployment problems.
Identify the stage that failed
An export can encounter a problem while preparing the selected revision, generating artifacts, checking them, or authorizing a download. A later Terraform, CloudFormation, or deployment error in your environment is a different stage. Record the exact message before retrying.
Check the selected inputs
- Confirm the organization, project, and Revision to export.
- Review the revision's findings and supported export options.
- Check whether optional application-source generation was enabled.
- Inspect the existing operation's status and available evidence.
- Use the offered retry or download action appropriate to that stage.
Avoid submitting repeated exports while the first operation is still running. A stalled browser does not prove the server stopped working.
If files differ from your canvas
Compare the export's saved revision with the current draft. Changes made after that revision will not appear in its package. Also distinguish diagram layout from infrastructure configuration when describing a mismatch.
Send a useful support request
Include the project, revision and export identifiers, selected format, error text, time and time zone, and affected filename. Say whether the issue happens without optional AI source. For a downstream tool error, include a redacted excerpt and tool version. Do not upload state files or logs containing credentials without first arranging an appropriate secure process.
Include this guide and what you tried in your ticket so we can pick up from there.
